Whole grain VS Refined grain : Why are whole grains better for you than refined grains?

In this article we will talk about "Whole grain VS Refined grain : Why are whole grains better for you than refined grains?"

You may hear about whole grain and refined grain very often but also may be confused between them .

Whole grain - Whole grains are any of grain which contains the germ, endosperm and bran like- wheat, rice, oats, millet, teff, etc.

Refined Grains- Refined grains are those grains which only contains endosperm. bran and germ are removed by the modification process.

Refined grains are always considered nutritionally inferior than whole grains.

Unfortunately most of the people are consuming refined grains more than the whole grains.

Whole grains are high in nutrients like- Fiber, vitamins (mostly Vitamin B complex), zinc, iron, magnesium, protein, antioxidant, and plant compound (polyphenols, sterols and stanols).

But at the other hand, Refined grain doesn't contains germ and bran which contains most of the nutrition of the grain. so in term of nutrition refined grains are inferior than whole grain.

If refined grain are less nutritious then why it is made ?

Mane purpose of making refined grain is that "Whole grains do spoil in open atmosphere over a period, that is the main reason of making refined grains because refined grain are made by using polishing techniques and added preservatives which increase the life span of grain. refined grains have larger life than whole grains".

So which one is good choice ?

Obviously the one who contains more nutrients are the better one so whole grain is better one than refined one.
