Today in this article we will talk about that "What can be a best alternative to Eye glasses".

The Vision Council of America is claim that about 75% of the adult population in the world
uses vision correction products and 64% of them wear glasses (more than 4 billion adults worldwide
uses glasses).

Glasses is one of the best way to see clearly to those who is visually impaired but sometimes it may
fell you restricted cause you can't play your favorite sports like football, volleyball, basketball.

So in that case what can be a better alternative to glasses.


1. Contact lens


 


Contact lens are the medical devices which used to place over the tear film that covers your cornea and
gives you a clear vision.

Contact lens are thin, transparent disk like structure which help improve your vision.

Contact lens may be a one of the best alternative to glasses, it provides nature mimic vision, larger field
of view and also gives you freedom to play your favorite sports.

You can wear contact lens occasionally or for prolong time as per your requirements.

There are several varieties in contact lens like daily disposable, monthly, yearly.

But contact lens requires more care and maintenance.

 

2. LASIK


 


LASIK stands for Laser Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis, currently most of the person know about this procedure.

LASIK is a type of refractive surgery which used to correct vision problem like- Myopia, Hypermetropia and Astigmatism.

If you want to get rid of glasses permanently then LASIK is one of the best alternative to it.

In LASIK procedure, remove the outer layer of cornea and lifting up to reveal the corneal tissues which underneath the outer layer and then tissue is reshaped using a laser and then corneal surface is placed to its original position.

 

3. PRK


 


PRK is stand for Photorefractive Keratectomy, It is also a laser procedure which used to correct vision problems.

In PRK procedure the corneal surface is discarded and the eye is left to heal for some days. recovery period in PRK is longer than LASIK.

PRK is used to treat Nearsightedness, Farsightedness and Astigmatism. It may reduce your need for eyeglasses.

If you have dry eyes, or thin cornea and want to have refractive surgery then PRK may be a good option for you, this is because some other types of refractive surgery such as LASIK are not recommended if you have these condition.

 

4. ICL


 


ICL stands for Implantable Contact Lens. in this procedure the contact lens is permanently implanted in the eye.

This alternatives is best for those glasses wearer who have thin or abnormal cornea, keratoconus and dry eye.

This procedure can be used to treat Myopia, Hyperopia and Astigmatism. 

ICL planted between the Iris and crystalline lens, if there are any major changes in your vision the ICLs can be removed as well.
