What is doping test? | Know all about doping

You perhaps heard about doping test in sports or bodybuilding, this article will tell you about doping and doping test in a simple way.

What is doping test?

Doping is use the of banned drugs (performing enhanced drugs) by competitors and the test is used to detect these banned drugs in the blood of athletes known as anti-doping test.  

Performance enhancing drugs are considered unethical and prohibited by various International sports organization, including International Olympic Committee. 

According to WADA's study More than 30% of athletes competing at the 2011 World Championships admitted to using banned substances during their career.

Why doping test required to test in sports?

Doping test is important because using of drugs just to enhance performance is against the "spirit of sport".

Testing process?

Athletes can be tested anywhere, anytime or it can take place in-competition at events, or out of competition, in training venues or at their homes and it always be conducted without any notice.

Testing procedure

Urine and blood sample are collected for the testing and sent to a WADA accredited laboratory for further analysis.

What if someone get positive?

IF an athletes gets positive may receive a competition ban for a length of period and an athletes tests positive after having served previous ban then it may likely to lifetime ban from the sport.
 

Substance that are banned?

There are very long list of banned substances, including peptide hormone, growth factors, anabolic androgenic steroids.

Which organization conduct doping test? 

 Every country has their own organization which affiliated with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
