In developing countries menstruation is still overlook, discrimination against menstruating girl and women is widespread in these countries, where menstruation is considered as a taboo and impure. 

According to BBC news, a study claim that 71% of adolescent girls in India are unaware of menstruation  until they get themselves in it.

According to a National Family Health Survey, Only 36 Percent Women Use Sanitary Pads In India. 

By this lack of knowledge there are too many myths about menstruation which needs to be clear. the reasons by which this myths are spreading is due to parents rarely prepare their daughters for something they know bound to happen which lead to misinformation, rumors. 

Menstruation's myths are largely prevalent, forcing many girls to drop out of school or be isolated for the duration of their menstrual cycle. 

According to a 2014 report by the NGO Dasra, estimated 23 million girls drop out of school annually due to lack of proper menstrual hygiene management facilities.

1. Myth: Periods are always on time of the month 

First of all there are two terms which need to be clear, menstruation and menstruation cycle. menstruation is the actual time that a women bleed and menstruation cycle is the entire time from one period to the next. 

So 28 days are considered as the average number of menstrual cycle, but some women's cycles may remains longer from 29 to 35 days.(1)
 
So it is myth that 'periods are always on time of the month.
 

2. Myths: Pain of a period is same that you mostly experience.

Pain occurs during the period is very different and real than like any other normal days, it is not like a headache or hit by some objects. 
 
Pain occurs in period refered as 'Dysmenorrhea' (painful menstrual periods which are caused by uterine contractions). 

Some times it may that sever enough to hamper your daily activities. 

So, it is myth to pain of period is same that you mostly experience. 

3. Myth: Period blood is body's rejected fluid

Period blood is not that blood which is flush out by the body in the form of toxins. it is vaginal secretion which contains blood cells, uterine tissues, mucus lining.
 
This blood is very differ from the blood which flows through the veins, it is less concentrates and contains less blood cells.

4. Myth: Only women get periods

It is not that much true, not every women gets period and not only women gets period. transgender men also gets menstruation. 

So, having a period is not a feminine thing.
 

5. Myth: Periods are individual's issues

Periods are never be personal or individual issue, in 2014 United Nations declared that menstruation hygiene was a public health issue and declared May 28 of every year as Menstrual Hygiene Day. 

Meany underprivileged people don't have access to the the proper support which they need for their periods, like hygiene, resources. 
 
 

6. Myth: If you miss you period, you are pregnant

It is one of the commonest myth. but it is true that if you're pregnant then you not get period but it doesn't mean that if you missed out period that you're pregnant. 

Missed or late period may caused due to hormonal imbalance, stress, excessive weight gain or loss, unhealthy diet. 
 
 

7. Myth: You cannot do exercise when you are on your period.

Still there is no scientific evidence for such statement, even doing yoga or exercise can lighten your mood and help you feel better during period cramps. but make sure to approach a right yoga instructor.
