Color blindness is a inherited eye condition in which affected person is not able to distinguish between
certain colors.

Color blindness is a genetic disorder in which male are more susceptible than female because the genes which are responsible for colorblindness are on the X chromosome.

Estimated 8% male are born with color blindness and 0.5% of women are affected with color vision.

Color blindness is diagnosed by Ishihara color test, 100 hue test, Farnsworth Lantern Test, etc.

There are some types of color blindness like- Red-green, Yellow -blue and total color blindness but Red-Green color blindness is most common amongst them.

Having a color blindness may also creates hurdle in certain jobs like- Pilot, Loco-pilot, Crane operators and the one want to serve ARMED forces.

Treatment for Color blindness


Currently there is no permanent treatment or cure for color vision defects but there are some special lens which may manage. 

1. Recently, researcher from The University of Birmingham has developed a dye which can help people to better differentiate. Die can be used on normal contact lens. 

Die blocks the band that present between green and red wavelength by which person can better differentiate. 

2. Enchroma glasses- enchroma claims that they developed one of a kind technology that enables the people with color vision deficiency to see colors.

Their technology increase the contrast between the red and green colors signal which gives the richer experience of the world to the color blind person. 

3. X-chrome contact lens- these are red-filter color soft x-chrome contact lens which is helpful to enhance color discrimination. 

X-chrome lenses doesn't cure color vision deficiency, it just helps to see colors differently.
